The Numbers
Stellar Snacks closed out what the company calls its biggest year yet by launching Stellar Pretzel Braids – Baked with Olive Oil, a six-flavor line available exclusively at Sprouts Farmers Market nationwide. The launch lands as the brand is on track to reach roughly 18,000 retail doors by year-end 2026, up from approximately 12,000 at the close of 2025 — a 50% increase in a single year. For salty snack buyers and category managers tracking velocity-to-distribution ratios, that number deserves a second look.
According to SPINS data cited by the brand, Stellar remains the fastest-growing nationally distributed pretzel brand in the U.S. food market. Over the trailing 52 weeks, MULO sales grew 205.0% versus the prior year, and average ACV distribution in MULO reached 20.0%, up 14.3 points. In Total U.S. Grocery, Stellar contributed 27.0% of all pretzel category growth in the four weeks ending October 4. Those are not incremental gains — they represent a velocity story that has forced larger salty snack incumbents to pay attention.
The Retail Strategy
The door expansion did not happen in a single wave. Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, and Publix added the brand at a national level earlier in 2026. A nationwide Target expansion followed in the summer alongside a new multipack SKU built for the club channel. The Sprouts olive oil exclusive now caps that rollout, targeting a shopper already predisposed to better-for-you positioning and seed-oil-free claims. That sequencing — mass grocery first, club format second, specialty exclusive third — reflects a disciplined phased retail strategy that category consultants often recommend for emerging CPG brands managing supply scale alongside distribution ambition. A strategic investment from Main Post Partners, made earlier this year, is funding the acceleration.
The six-flavor Baked with Olive Oil line spans sweet and savory: Maui Monk, Bold & Herby, Cinnamon Dolce, and French Dijon carry over from existing flavor DNA, while Elote Loco (Mexican street corn) and Spicy Flame (habanero and paprika) are new-to-brand additions. All Stellar products are vegan, non-GMO, kosher, and free of top allergens including peanuts and soy — a compliance checklist that simplifies retailer and foodservice buyer procurement review.
What This Signals
The olive oil positioning is not incidental. Seed-oil-free has moved from niche wellness rhetoric into mainstream retail conversation over the past 18 months, and brands that can credibly occupy that attribute at a mass price point have a structural advantage in planogram negotiations. Stellar's airline heritage — its pretzels are served on Southwest Airlines flights reaching hundreds of millions of passengers annually — also gives the brand a trial-at-scale story that few emerging snack companies can replicate, and one that retail buyers recognize as an implicit quality endorsement.
For foodservice operators and hospitality procurement teams sourcing snack programs, the brand's airline and retail dual-channel presence, combined with its allergen profile and artisanal baked-daily positioning, makes it a credible candidate for amenity and minibar programs alongside retail shelf sets. Operators building better-for-you snack programs or evaluating emerging CPG brands for retail-ready distribution should track how Stellar's Sprouts exclusivity window evolves — and whether broader conventional grocery expansion follows in early 2027.
