The Fall Lineup
Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. is entering fall 2026 with three simultaneous SKU launches designed to push cranberry out of its traditional Thanksgiving window and into everyday seasonal occasions. The cooperative — owned by roughly 700 family farmers across the U.S., Canada, and Chile — is targeting three distinct usage moments: the warm-beverage occasion, the better-for-you snack aisle, and the breakfast and entertaining spread category.
The three products are: a limited-edition Cranberry Cider Juice Drink (cranberry and apple with cinnamon, clove, and ginger notes, available warm or chilled); Sour Apple Flavored Craisins® Dried Cranberries (the latest entry in Ocean Spray's Sour platform); and a limited-edition Cranberry Spread (a smooth, tart fruit spread inspired by a UK market offering, positioned for toast, cheese boards, and sandwiches). Distribution is staggered — the cider drink hits Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and select Walmart stores in October; Sour Apple Craisins land on Amazon.com on October 5; and the Cranberry Spread rolls to select regional retailers including Publix and Hy-Vee beginning in October.
Channel Strategy Worth Watching
The channel mix here is instructive for operators and brand managers tracking how cooperative-scale brands are sequencing retail entry. Ocean Spray is leading with Amazon and Walmart.com for the beverage and snack SKUs — a digital-first, low-slotting-risk approach that generates demand data before a broader brick-and-mortar push. The Cranberry Spread, by contrast, goes straight to regional grocery chains with strong deli and specialty adjacency, which makes sense for a condiment format that benefits from in-store discovery and sampling adjacency.
For foodservice buyers and menu developers, the Cranberry Spread launch is the most actionable signal. Cranberry-forward spreads and sauces have been gaining traction on brunch menus and charcuterie-adjacent applications at independent restaurants and boutique hotels. A retail product in this format, backed by Ocean Spray's distribution muscle, tends to accelerate consumer familiarity — which reduces friction when operators introduce similar preparations on their own menus. Watch Publix and Hy-Vee velocity numbers as a proxy for regional demand before building cranberry spread into Q4 and Q1 menu cycles.
What This Signals for Operators
The broader strategic read is that Ocean Spray is using the fall seasonal window — historically dominated by pumpkin spice — to assert cranberry as a year-round, multi-format ingredient rather than a holiday-only commodity. Trinh Le, Vice President of USA Branded at Ocean Spray, framed it directly: "This fall, we're giving consumers more ways than ever to enjoy cranberry, from a cozy seasonal sip and a bold new snack to a versatile spread that brings cranberry to even more occasions."
For operators building fall LTO beverage programs, the Cranberry Cider Juice Drink format — warm or chilled, spiced with cinnamon, clove, and ginger — maps cleanly onto the warm nonalcoholic cocktail and mocktail trend that has been building in hotel lobbies and casual-dining bars. Brands launching spread or condiment formats into grocery are also worth tracking for co-marketing or sampling partnership opportunities, particularly for cafés and specialty retail operators looking to align with recognizable cooperative brands.
