The Moves

Gotham Greens is making its most concentrated commercial investment since going national, naming Natalie Barber Halpern as its first Chief Commercial Officer and signing integrated commerce agency C.A. Fortune to manage headquarter sales across the country. The dual announcement comes after the Brooklyn-based greenhouse grower brought in CPG veteran Craig Stevenson as CEO earlier in 2026 — a leadership rebuild now extended all the way through the sales and marketing stack.

Halpern's mandate is to unify sales, marketing, and innovation under a single commercial organization for the first time. Her background is squarely in scaled consumer brands: she ran the U.S. Advil business at Haleon, held roles across Centrum and Caltrate at the same company, started her career at The Clorox Company across Hidden Valley Ranch, Kingsford, Glad, and Clorox, and later moved into premium pet nutrition at Nature's Variety. That trajectory — from household staples into premium naturals — maps well to where Gotham Greens is trying to position itself in fresh food.

What the Numbers Say

Retail sales for Gotham Greens grew 18.0% year-over-year across its full portfolio — packaged salads, herbs, salad kits, dressings, dips, and cooking sauces — through the 52-week period ending August 29, 2026, per Nielsen Total U.S. xAOC data. The brand holds the number-one position in basil nationally and is the fastest-growing greenhouse-grown salad kit on the same measurement. That velocity is the commercial argument the company is now taking into a scaled broker partnership.

C.A. Fortune will handle national headquarter sales, supported by its in-store execution team and digital commerce capabilities. For retailers evaluating fresh produce bandwidth, the agency relationship signals that Gotham Greens is ready to compete for shelf allocation at major accounts — the brand already appears in more than 6,500 locations including Whole Foods Market, Kroger, Sprouts, Albertsons, Publix, Target, and Amazon Fresh. The C.A. Fortune partnership is designed to deepen velocity and household penetration at those existing accounts while opening new ones.

What This Signals for Buyers and Vendors

The Cyclospora outbreak context is worth noting for category buyers and foodservice procurement teams. Halpern cited a "significant surge in consumer awareness and engagement" around food safety and greenhouse-grown produce following the recent outbreak — a dynamic that tends to accelerate trial for controlled-environment agriculture brands with auditable, climate-controlled supply chains. Greenhouse-grown CEA operators are positioned differently than field-grown competitors when food-safety concerns spike, and retailers have historically responded by increasing facings and promotional support for brands that can document their growing conditions.

For vendors and agencies tracking the CEA produce segment, the CCO hire and broker expansion represent a playbook shift from founder-led sales to professional commercial infrastructure. Gotham Greens will showcase new salad kit innovations at the Global Produce & Floral Show on October 15–16 in Orlando — a natural checkpoint to watch for buyer response to the new product pipeline. Operators sourcing fresh greens for meal kits, hotel F&B programs, or grocery-adjacent retail should expect Gotham Greens to be more aggressive on distribution terms and promotional programming through 2027.
